Common Questions

Audits are unfamiliar territory. Questions are expected.

The New Entrant Safety Audit and Corrective Action Plan process is detailed, time-sensitive, and largely unfamiliar to most carriers receiving their first U.S. DOT number. Specialists can walk through what records are needed, what the audit covers, whether a carrier qualifies for offsite or requires onsite audit, and how to structure a CAP response that FMCSA will find acceptable.

For carriers that have already received a failure notice, the clock is running. The fastest path to getting a response underway is a direct call to the number above.

CAP deadline is 60 days from the date of written failure notice (45 days for passenger and hazmat carriers). Missing the deadline results in immediate U.S. DOT number revocation with no grace period.
